The gallery Tierra Quemada, was initiated from the need to create a permanent space dedicated to contemporary ceramics. Oaxaca, Mexico is known for its high quality traditional pottery. It is from these traditions that our artists have grown and evolved. Tierra Quemada is proud to represent the evolution of clay art by Jorge Pablo with his earth-art, fossil-like murals, wall-art and wheel thrown basket-like vessels. Vicente Hernandez grew from his traditional thrown forms to platters and custom-order dinnerware sets and lamps. Eliz Olivella is represented through her Raku wheel thrown forms, high fire dinnerware and figurative sculptures.
